This work is an abstraction based on the Tour De France 2020 Stage 11. The title “In yellow” references Primoz Roglic, who, in this stage, is in Yellow. The inspiration for this work is the speed, the movement and the ambiguous shapes that occur when riders are photographed during their battles. More detailed images can be viewed below in the slideshow. The original painting on canvas is still available to purchase.

Peloton

“Peloton” A2 Giclee Fine Art Print, limited to an edition of 20 prints. These prints are signed and numbered and printed on high-quality Hahnemuhle Torchon paper with a high-quality texture. Priced at £74.00, postage is included, delivered in a postal tube.

This work is an abstraction based on The Peloton. The Peloton (In French, ball or platoon), is the main group or pack of riders in a road race. The reduction in drag is dramatic, with the middle of the pack saving sometimes 40% of their energy. Often riders will rotate to retain high speeds, with savings in energy made whilst behind the front. The original painting is owned by the legend and the “Breakaway king ” Thomas De Gendt. I was inspired by the perspectival structure and the breakdown of clarity and ambiguity of the shapes and colour.
